The evidence against Slater
was strengthened by the dying declarations of the deceased, though it will be for another tribunal to decide whether there was any previous malice leading to the commission of the deed of blood.
seems to be fully aware of the perils of his situation, and exhibited a depth of feeling in court which would not be likely to proceed from a heart thoroughly hardened.
We did not perceive any strong testimony against Sheridan
