Reports from the army.

The War Department continues to receive reports of an apprehended attack upon the Peninsula, but we are unable to give the precise information upon which they are founded. We have intelligence that the Congressmen in Washington, who come fresh from the people, are pressing McClellan to make an attack and win a great victory somewhere, and the impatience of the Yankees in consequence of his slow movements begins to manifest itself in various ways. It may be that he will be forced to yield to the popular pressure, and make the long delayed advance, though we do not believe he will do so of his own volition. There is no important news from any quarter. We have no confirmation of the reported fight between Ashby's command and the enemy on Sunday last.
