The Patterson-Bonaparte Presidency rumor Revived

--In connection with Mexico, an extraordinary assertion is made in Government circles, and I mention it, not from any belief in its truth, but from its singularity. It is that some influential parson ages in Mexico have proposed to Mr. Patterson, who is so well known from his lawsuits to establish the legitimacy of his mother's marriage with Prince Jerome Bonaparte--some personages, I say, are stated to have proposed to this gentleman, on account of his connection with the Bonaparte family, to bring about his election for life to the Presidency of the Mexican republic Really, one is surprised to find that such grotesque assertions can obtain serious attention for a moment front political men.-- Paris Correspondent of the London Chronicle.
