Late Northern news.

Norfolk, Dec. 20.
--Northern papers to the 19th inst. have been received here.

The Queen's Messenger had not arrived in Washington late Wednesday evening, owing to a detention on the railroad.

Dispatches have been received by Lincoln from various parts of the country urging him to be firm, and not give up the commissioners. Lincoln affects coolness and seems determined not to yield to the demand of the British Government. The demand is believed to be peremptory — the envoys to be promptly restored, and a satisfactory apology offered; otherwise Lord Lyons must immediately demand his passports.
