Assassination in Texas.

--The Waco (Texas) Southwest, of the 5th inst., has the following:

‘ Last week one of the most daring and diabolical attempts at assassination that ever disgraced the records of any country, was made on the person of Mr. S. H Johnson, about two miles east of this place, as is believed, by a man named Ell Ensor. Mr. Johnson was driving to town in a buggy, and in passing a thicket was shot by a concealed person. One ball passed entirely through his neck, and ledged in his cravat, another struck him in the hip, and still another in the leg. He was taken to his home, and everything that the kindness and affection of friends and relatives could prompt was done to alleviate his sufferings and ward off the fell stroke of the grim-visaged monster Death, but without avail. His friends had flattered themselves with the hope of his recovery until Monday night last, when he suddenly grew worse, and breathed his last on Tuesday morning. His burial took place on yesterday evening.
