Festivities of the season.

--Gayety has this season assumed a form somewhat different from that of former years. The goddess Pleasure has not relinquished her throne, but there is interwoven with festive scenes a sentiment more exalted than any mere motive of temporary enjoyment. The absent soldiers and their families are not forgotten; and with a view to contributing to their comfort, a ball will be given to-night at Franklin Hall, one door below the Exchange Hotel. The price of tickets is very reasonable, and we hope the enterprise will meet with liberal encouragement. A ball for the benefit of the Charleston sufferers will also be given to-night at the William Tell House, on Broad street.
