Commissary stores.

--The large warehouse of Edmond, Davenport & Co., on the Dock, is now occupied by the Commissariat, and is well filled with stores for the use of the army. It is a convenient locality in view of the means of water transportation. A large amount of freight is brought in lighters by the Virginia Towing Company, from Petersburg, and landed at the door of the warehouse. This saves labor and drayage, which is an important consideration in a department involving a multiplicity of duties.
