We understand that, in consequence of the concert for the benefit of the Kentucky
soldiers in the field in Virginia
, the lectures proposed for this week for similar purposes, (i. e.,
the aid of the volunteers of our State and the Hampton
sufferers,) will be postponed until next week.
The time, place, and lecturer will be announced in the papers of the city.
We hope those of our citizens, who desire, not only to aid the good cause of Southern patriotism, as well as to minister to the wants of others, whose beautiful homes, in the town of Hampton
, have been laid in ashes as a military necessity, will, in the literary treat which is in store for them be forthcoming on the occasion of these lectures, to show their appreciation both of the objects and the men; the latter of whom, well known in the literary world, give their names and efforts to the cause.
When the lectures do take place, ‘"come one, come all."’
