Dangerous counterfeit

--We were yesterday shown an exceedingly well executed counterfeit five dollar note on the Commercial Bank of Columbia, South Carolina. By some chemical process best known to the ingenious counterfeiter, the notes of some exploded Commercial Bank have been made to resemble so precisely the bills of the Columbia Bank, as to require the closest inspection to defect the difference. We are informed that several of these spurious bills are going the rounds in this locality.--Nashville Gazettes, 12th.
