Flag of truce.

The flag of truce between Norfolk and Old Point may well be considered as of doubtful expediency. It has become too regular a business. The influence upon the public mind of such daily transmission of correspondence under the protection of a flag that is not generally employed except on matters of special importance and necessity, can hardly be beneficial. Norfolk and Old Point are grown much too intimate. There is no telling what may not be done through this daily communication, detrimental to our cause.
