--A melancholy accident occurred at Judge Kenney's saw-mill dam, on Middle River, in Augusta county, last Thursday morning, about 9 o'clock. On that morning one of the Judge's servant boys, Roscoe, about 18 years of age, crossed the river near the dam in a boat, for the purpose of taking across a young lady living in the neighborhood, a Miss McLaughlin. On the return of the boat, from some cause or other the boy became frightened and jumped into the river, the young lady following his example. Neither being able to swim, they both sank and were drowned.--Rockingham Register, 28th.
