Affaire in the West.

--A recent letter from Jackson, Tenn., says:

Island No.10 is now our strong point of residance to the Federal gunboats. The Lincoln forces will never pass that point. It is a perfect Gibralter. Gen. Beauregard is much improved in health. He is the man for the times, and our prayers for his preservation should be constant. The defamers of Gen. A. S. Johnsion are beginning to discover their error, and the popular tide is about to bear him upon its bosom. General Bragg is here, working in conjunction with Beauregard, and organizing for the great contest that is impending on this line. Gen. Polk has joined the other Generals here, and our force is increasing rapidly.
