Terrible Homicide.

--We copy the following particulars of a tragic affair which occuried at Knoxville, Tenn., on Saturday, the 29th ult., from the Register of the 30th.

Much excitement was created in our city yesterday afternoon by the shooting of Leon Jones, a well known citizen of this county, by a young man from Nashville, a member of Col. Rains's regiment, named Wallace Halle. Jones was standing on the corner of Main and Gay streets when Halle approached and shot him through the head with a pistol, killing him instantly. The cause of the act, we learn, was a personal difficulty of some months' standing. Mr. Jones was an unmarried man, but leaves an aged mother and two sisters to mourn this and occurrence. He was a brother of Hon. C. W. Jones, county judge of this county. Young Halle is the son of a Nashville merchant, and, we believe, was chief bugler in Rains's regiment at Cumberland Gap.
