Lynch vs. Shea,

--Among the cases before the Mayor yesterday, was that of Dennis Lynch, who had been arrested at the suit of the Commonwealth for making certain felonious as well as personally disagreeable openings in the side of James Shea with a sword. A petty dispute led to the drawing of the instrument and the speedy insertion of the blade by Dennis into the side of his opponent. The testimony showed the excavation to be a pretty extensive one, and led to the inference, on the Mayor's part, that it was not the fault of the irate Dennis that it was not larger. Acting as the guardian of the rights of the people, which had been infringed by the hasty action of Lynch, the official sent him to jail, to be examined before a called Court of Hustings on the 24th of April.
