The Rains

--Some weather wise person has predicted that there will not be three consecutive fair days during this war. We are disposed to be fully convinced of the truth of the prophecy of this modern philosopher, from the evidences that have visited this region for the last nine months. We believe the war would have been nearer to a termination if we had not had such incessant rainy weather, which has made the roads inaccessible for transportation of our stores, while the Yankees had the steamboats and the rivers to accelerate their movements.
