Boy drowned.

--Yesterday, about 9 o'clock in the morning, a small white lad, named Willie Collier, son of Mr. A. P. Collier, aged 5 years, fell off the bridge leading from the Old Market arch, spanning Shockoe creek, between Main and Franklin streets, and the creek being much swollen by recent rains, was drowned before assistance could be rendered him. The alarm was quickly given and the body recovered, but an attempts to resuscitate the lad proved unavailing. It is supposed that while standing on the bridge he was attacked with a fit, and thus lost his balance and fell into the creek, the bridge having no balustrades to prevent anything of the kind.
