Considerable Excitement

was created yesterday in Richmond by sensation rumors and other devices known to the initiated. The disposition of the citizens to believe any and everything was not allayed by the appearance about two o'clock of a placard inviting them to repair to a spot on the banks of the "noble James" and do certain things which, to all observant people, looked like performing the operation of looking the stable door after the disappearance of the norse. Everybody evinced a willingness to be of service on the occasion. During the day a large force of negroes were pressed into service and set to work.
