The New York Herald's Fabrications.

--Alluding to the assertion of the New York Herald that the ‘ "Richmond Dispatch gives a terrible record of the rebel loss of officers at the battle of Fair Oaks,"’ &c., &c., the Petersburg Express, of yesterday, says:

‘ A greater lie Bennett never fabricated. As an evidence of its mendacity, we find on the first page of Wednesday's Herald, under the heading. "Interesting from the South," captious extracts from the Richmond Examiner and Enquirer, Lynchburg Republican, Petersburg Express, Jackson Mississippian, Vicksburg Citizen, and Atlanta Intelligencer, but not a line from the Dispatch. It is scarcely probable that Bennett would have omitted such a paragraph, had the Dispatch been in his possession containing it. When such desperate means are resorted to, the Lincoln cause must be on the want.
