--The intelligence from this officer is not of the most flattering character.
It is known that he has retreated from Salt Sulphur Springs, in Monroe, which place the Yankees took possession of on Wednesday, capturing five hundred head of fine cattle, a large quantity of flour and bacon, and other army stores.
No other losses are reported.
