Inquest on the body of Hannah Schriver.

--The bloody deed which, during last Friday night, consigned the body of Hannah Schriver to the grave, has not, since its enactment, been illumined by a ray of testimony calculated to lead to the discovery of the chief actor in the horrid drama. Yesterday the jury of inquest reassembled at the City Hall, and examined a number of witnesses; but their testimony pointed to no material discovery in the premises. It was deemed Important by the Coroner to endeavor, if possible, to fix the ownership of the hatchet, with which the murder was accomplished; but though a number of witnesses, some of them free blacks, were called upon, none professed to know anything about it. The murder, therefore, remains wrapped in as much mystery as ever. The jury rendered a verdict--‘"That deceased came to her death by cuts and bruises inflicted by a hatchet, by some person or persons unknown to the jurors."’
