A Precious Pet.

--A letter from Atlanta, Ga. July 21st, says:

Col. Forrest, since the capture of Murfreesboro, has (it is said,) retired to Cumberland Mountain, back of McMinnville a few miles. The captured commissioned officers passed Knoxville, yesterday, en route for Richmond, including Gen. Tom. Crittenden, the same who twelve months ago gave E. M. Bruce a letter of introduction to Preshlent Davis, in which he said, ‘"my prayers are constantly ascending for your success."’ One month later he accepted a commission of Brigadier General, with a very large contract for cattle, from his majesty, Abraham the First.
