--In the neighborhood of the Old Fair Grounds, within a few weeks past, the children and servants of one family have narrowly escaped death by the careless discharge of fire-arms. On one occasion a musket ball passed a few inches over a servant's head, cutting off the limbs of a small cedar tree; and on another occasion a ball buried itself into a post, by the side of which stood an interesting child. Officers should endeavor to prevent their men from carelessly firing their pieces in the air to the danger of private citizens.
