Police Court.

--Yesterday Hetty Tyler. free negress, charged with stealing $60 worth of wearing apparel from John S. Austin, underwent an examination, and was sent before the Hustings Court for trial.--Patrick Dempsey, arrested for stealing a pistol worth $60 from Wm. H. Lee, was examined and acquitted.--John Hopkins, a small lad, was brought up charged with cutting Charles with a knife in the street. Defendant is a newsboy, and the offence for which he was arrested occurred while he was wrangling about the sale of his wares. Nobody appeared against him, and his father, who lives in Manchester, promising to give him a licking for using the knife, he was delivered into his custody. Ann Beery who arrested for assaulting and beating Mary Phelan and Margaret Connelly in their own house. It came out during the examination that Ann's mother was as deep in the mud as she was in the mire, having had a hand in the beating of the two females. She and Ann were both held to bail for their good behavior.--James C. Crany was committed for further examination on the charge of unlawfully taking a pair of shoes from P. G. Wescoatt's negro.--George M. Bates, arrested for encumbering the sidewalk, while drunk, was let off.
