Gen. Earl Van-Dorn has been superceded in the command of the army recently engaged with the enemy at Corinth, and Major General J. C. Pemberton assigned to the command of that portion of our forces. We are not advised whether the loss of the battle at Corinth had anything to do with this change of commanders.
