From the South side.

Reports were yesterday busily circulated of a skirmish which is said to have occurred at Franklin on Blackwater river, on Tuesday evening. A portion of Dodge's New York Mounted Riflemen were represented to have encountered some of our cavalry and a section of Wright's Rockett Battery. The battle is said to have lasted upwards of an hour and finally resulted in the loss of the section of Wright's battery engaged, and about fifteen of our men killed and wounded. The loss of the enemy is not known, as they were left in possession of the field. It is reported, however, that two of their horses were captured.
