New Publications.

--We have received from the publishing house of Messrs. Ayres & Wade a copy of a novel entitled "The Step-Sister," by a Southern gentleman. The work is very interesting, neatly gotten up, and reflects credit on the indomitable energy and mechanical skill evinced by the publishers in the face of so many difficulties.

We have also received from the same house the advanced sheets of "The Life of Stonewall ackson." It is a book of 350 pages, clearly printed, and embellished with a lithographic likeness of the hero taken from an ambrotype taken a few days before his death. --Messrs. A. & W. will soon take rank with the first publishing houses in the Confederacy, if their present well directed spirit of enterprise may be taken as an earnest of the future.
