One of the strange Incidents of the War

--We read in the Greenville (Ala.) Weekly Observer, as obituary notice of Sergeant Major Nichols who was recently killed by a Minnie ball at Salem Church, Va. He was a native of Philadelphia but had been for eight years a citizen of the South. At the time of his death he was a member of the Jeff Davis Rangers, a company from Greenville, and had signalled his devotion to the South. The strange part of the story of his life is, that his father is a Brigadier General in Lincoln's service, and at one time a little previous to the battle of Sharpsburg in September last, his son and himself were only ten miles apart, one at the head of troops, marching to devastate the homes of freedom, the other fighting bravely in defence of the cause of right and justice.
