Hitherto, however, while the superior number of their ships is admitted, the praise of superior valor must be accorded to us. Their mighty squadrons at Vicksburg
have done nothing, while the ecstasy of joy with which they hall the victory of their two monitors over a single stranded ship proves that a triumph is something to which they are not accustomed.
