Passing counterfeits

--Yesterday morning a soldier, called S H. Pearman, a member of company K. 53d Va. regiment, was partially examined before Gen. Winder, on the charge of passing counterfeit Confederate Treasury notes. Since the fight at Gettysburg a large amount of counterfeits have been put in circulation in the neighborhood of Winchester and Harper's Ferry and will soon find their way to this section. The punishment for this crime, when clearly proven, ought to be death.
