Now is the time.

--An extra session of the Legislature is to be held in the course of a few weeks to devise means for "home defence," and the Governor will then, in all probability, send into camp all the second class militia who are not members of some military organization. The county of Henrico, more than any other county in Virginia, is to suffer by raids or an advance on Richmond, and her people, more than any other, are interested in preventing those raids and in checking an advance. To effect these ends every citizen able to bear arms must be prepared for service. If they will not join the local companies now being raised, then they will be gathered up with the second class militia, placed in camps of instruction, and forced to defend their families and firesides against any enemy whose aim and end is destruction and subjugation. Efforts are now being made to organize a mounted force for home protection. Members are solicited and received from all parts of the county, and if all who are able to do so will hand in their names to the meeting to be held at the Court House on Saturday next, not only a company, but a first-rate battalion, will be formed before the setting of the sun on that day.
