Soldier shot.

--On Saturday night last a convalescent soldier from one of the city hospitals was fired upon and slightly wounded whilst robbing a garden. That he was not killed is no fault of the gardener, as the gun, when fired, contained one ball and five buckshot. Finding that the authorities are not disposed to give them any protection, the farmers generally are employing armed guards to protect their crops.
