Operations in Mississippi.

Atlanta, Sept. 3.
--Refugees from Mississippi report that movements at Greenport, to and from Natchez, are very active. No journals are allowed to pass out of the city.

It is supposed that Natchez will be made the base of operations against West Louisiana and Texas.

Gunboats are posted and small steamers patrol the vicinity of the several crossings of the river, and great vigilance is used by the Yankees to prevent transit. Every boat or raft built on the river is destroyed at sight.

Seventy-two Yankee prisoners, taken in Mississippi, arrived here this evening.
