Pasturage may be had on the Chickahominy swamps for the hundreds of Government mules now in the city, consuming the long forage that may be needed for the army. Along the York River Railroad there are scores of acres of land covered with coarse grass that would furnish mule forage for weeks at little or no cost. This forage, unless thus used, will be wasted, because farmers have not hands to save it.
