Odds and Ends.
--The police docket on Monday is generally lumbered up with the accumulated debris of two days, and takes the time of the Mayor
and his officers most of the morning to get rid of it. Drunken men and strolling negroes make up most of the calendar, and had as well be disposed of at the "lock-ups" as to be dragged through the streets, to the disgust of decent people and to the mortification of the prisoners.--The City Council might give the Captain
of the Night Watch
the authority to hear and dispose of this trash every morning at the cage, and thus save the time of the police and the labor of servants to their masters.
