Long Forage is so much needed that some of the city physicians, in order to keep their horses, have been compelled to get exemption for bay in the country, in order to get it here. If there is a scarcity of long forage in the State, steps ought to be taken at once to get rid of the pleasure and other surplus stock, so as to insure food for the army and other necessary horses. The Government might readily mount several regiments very finely by impressing the pleasure horses of the city, including those held by officers who are not in active service, and who only keep handsome chargers for evening alringa and extraordinary displays.
