From Western North Carolina.

--There was some excitement at Raleigh, N. C., on Monday, on account of rumors of a Yankee advance on the Western border. A letter had been received at the Executive Department from Gen. Vance, at Asheville, stating that Maj. Woodfin had been killed by an advance of the enemy somewhere beyond that place, and that they were pressing forward. Gen. Vance is making every possible preparation to meet the enemy should they advance.
