Incendiarism.

--Between the hours of 2 and 3 o'clock yesterday morning the carriage-house of Mr. E. C. Pleasants, near 30th street, Church Hill, was set on fire. As soon as the flames were discovered the neighbors were aroused, and, hastening to the scene, began the work of rescuing such property as could be moved. The flames spread rapidly, and in a short time the stable and kitchen were enveloped and the dwelling house caught on fire, but by the continuous perseverance of those who had assembled this building was saved, in a damaged condition. During the progress of the conflagration all the furniture was removed from the house with very little breakage; but during the remainder of the night Mr. Pleasants lost heavily by the thieves who prowled around and carried off everything that they could conveniently remove. Mr. Pl's loss will fall but little short of $5,000.--His dwelling was partially insured.
