Getting ice.

--The present cold spell has enabled several ice getters to gather a very pretty crop, equal in thickness to any obtained last winter, whilst others have tailed to reap because of their want of forecast.--Every one who has an ice house ought to endeavor to lay in large supplies as rapidly as possible, as well to assist the Government in procuring an indispensable article for the sick and wounded soldiers during the summer months as for the ordinary neighborhood purposes in hot weather. As a money-making operation, no crop is more valuable than ice, and none more easily gathered, when ready for housing.
