--One of the private banking-houses in this city was done up to the tune of $5,500, on Wednesday last, by some adroit operator, who purchased a small pile of Yankee greenbacks, and gave his check for the amount claimed in Confederate notes.
The check proved worthless on presentation, and the police were set upon the track of the swindler, but they have not as yet caught him.
