A requisition having been made by the Governor
of the Commonwealth
for 160 slaves, between the ages of 18 and 45, to be furnished by the city of Richmond
to labor on the fortifications, the Court
ordered that the Commissioners
of the Revenue inquire into the number of male slaves fit for service, and the owners thereof, and that they make their returns to the Court
on the 1st day of February.
