In the Senate
yesterday the following bills were passed.
To authorize the transfer of certain bonds of this Commonwealth held in trust by the Government
of the United States
for the Cherokee Indians
, and providing for the payment of the interest thereon.
To amend sessions 31 and 32 of chapter for the Code, so as to increase the fees of Clerks
of Courts for certain services.
To amend section 100 of chapter 35 of the case, so as to increase the allowance to Clerks for services rendered under said chapter.
In the House Mr. Anderson
submitted a bill to authorize the Governor
to appoint an agent to ascertain the number of troops in from Virginia
; also, those who have died or been killed in the service.
The bill was ordered to its second reading.
The Speaker appointed Messrs. Staples
, of Marion
, and the special committee to take into consideration the resolution respecting the growth of tobacco.
On motion, Messrs.
, nation, Worsham
, and James were able to the committee.
The report of the committee on the con claim of T. F. Betts
to a seat in the House
was made the order of the day for tomorrow.
The joint remonstrance of the Legislature against extending the provisions of the conscription law was argued at length.
