Frightened off.

--About three o'clock yesterday morning the stable attached to the premises of Maj. Robert Ayres, in Sidney, was broken into by thieves and one or two of his best horses had been unaltered, but before they had time to ride them off Major A. and his son were aroused and rushed out, which caused them to beat a hasty retreat. One or two shots were fired, but it is not known whether any of the robbers were hurt.
