Shop thief arrested.
--Last Wednesday or Thursday Mr. James Bolton
's shoe store was entered in the daytime by thieves, who carried off four pairs of ladies' shoes.
On Friday three negroes carried three pairs of the shoes to a Mrs. Schonfarber
, living on Broad st., near 2d, and offered to sell them to her.--Mrs.
S. pretended to wish to buy the shoes, and getting them into her possession, told the negroes that she would pay for them when they brought a note from some white person authorizing them to sell them.
The negroes went off, and, of course, did not return.
Yesterday morning a son of Mrs. Schonfarber
recognized one of the negroes on the street and had him arrested.
being informed of all the circumstances, went up to Mrs.
S.'s and identified the shoes as his property, when they were handed over to him by that lady.
The negro's name is Jesse, and he belongs to Mr. Wm. W. Jones
He will be brought before the Mayor
