Second class militia.
--We call attention to Orders No. 1
of Col. J. B. Danforth
, in another column of this paper, directing the citizens, residents, &c., between the ages of 16 and 18 and 45 and 55 to assemble this afternoon, at 4½ o'clock, in front of the City Hall, for the purpose of reorganizing under a recent act of the General Assembly of Virginia
This order is peremptory, having the sanction of the State
and Confederate authorities, and, therefore, we advise all who come within the prescribed ages to be present at the time and place specified.
It makes no difference whether they have been personally notified or not. It is their duty to report themselves, and if they do not they will be turned over to the Secretary of War
under the late conscription act. Those who reside between certain streets named in the order are directed to report to certain officers, who will be present to receive them.
