Major Gen. Lovell left Columbia on Tuesday for Johnston's army. Several weeks ago Gen. Johnston applied to the President for the appointment of Gen Lovell as a corps commander. The President did not grant the request, and Gen Lovell accordingly goes as a volunteer, ready to perform such service as may be selected for him by the Commander-in-Chief.-- Augusta (Ga) Constitutionalist.
