Watermelons are as plentiful at this time as they ever have been at any other season, and yet it is rarely that any of them can be bought for less than from five to fifteen dollars. The price asked is about fifty times higher than before the war, while the cost of raising them is neither more expensive nor more troublesome. People would do well to let them alone until the venders come down in their demands.
