Accident.

--Last night about seven o'clock a servant girl in the employ of Mr. Jacob Trower, on Main street, near the Fair Grounds, while chopping wood in the yard of her master's premises, struck her foot with the edge of the axe, severing it in two in the middle. A physician was called in, who pressed the separated parts together and stitched up the flesh; but there is no certainty of the wound healing up, and amputation may yet be necessary.
