Mayor's court.

--The Mayor, yesterday morning, resumed his official duties and disposed of the following cases, which were recorded on the court register:

‘ Jane Going, alias Gibson, a free negro, arrested while in a house of evil fame, and associating with Elizabeth Lloyd, a white woman, was committed to jail, after an examination of witnesses, for want of security for future good behavior. Elizabeth Lloyd, the white woman alluded to as associating with Jane Going, was also committed in default of security for good behavior.

’ A fine was imposed upon A. W. Hughes, charged with buying a lot of Irish potatoes in the Second Market to sell again in violation of the market ordinance. The potatoes were confiscated and ordered to be sold for the benefit of the city treasury.

Charles Hubbs, white, charged with drunkenness and drawing a knife on the officer who arrested him, was called; but failing to answer, his case was continued till this morning.

Several negroes, charged with various offences, were committed for a hearing this morning; after which, his Honor left his seat.
