General Wheeler.

--A correspondent of the Montgomery Advertiser says that this officer has asked to be relieved from his cavalry command and given a division of infantry. He adds:

‘ "With all his industry, and he has a vast amount of it; and all his education, and he is thorough; General Wheeler was not fitted by nature for a chief of cavalry. No man protects and army with so much courage, attention and skill.--No man makes a better dragoon with the main body. But he is no raider, and that is what we imperatively want. So, as major-general of infantry he will succeed. He will make one of the best in the army; for here courage, energy and education come directly into play. It is rumored in this connection that he will be promoted to be lieutenant-general, to succeed Hardee."
