Mayor's Court.

--The proceedings of this court yesterday were brief, and of no special interest. Recorder Caskie presided in the absence of the Mayor.

P. Walker was charged with beating Aaron, a slave. As no one appeared to substantiate the charge, Mr. Walker was discharged.

Ned, slave of Mrs. Mary Newton, was ordered to be whipped for stealing a bag of corn from the Government horse lot at Bacon's Quarter Branch.

Peter, slave of John Clopton, was, after examination, sent on to the Hustings Court for breaking into the salt-house of O. H. Chalkley & Co. and stealing eleven beef hides. The hides were found by watchmen Everett and Webb in Richmond's blacksmith shop, near Mayo's

bridge, in which the accused had slept; and his coat and hat were covered with hair, rubbed off the hides during their transportation from the salt-house, which had been broken into by wrenching a large bolt from one of the windows.

John Pugg, a free negro Confederate teamster, charged with desertion, was sent to Captain Coke.
